Siena

This will be a Gothic page, because so far on this trip we've been overdosed on Ancient Roman, Renaissance, and Baroque. Siena's duomo dates from the 1200s. In the church's library are wonderful frescoes depicting events in the life of Pius II and a great carved pulpit, resting on the backs of lions. The city's town hall was built in the late 1200s. Unlike many cities in the area, Siena suffered little damage in World War II.
