The story is that Gunnar Sonsteby watched the German army march into Oslo, then got on his bike and rode into the countryside to join the Resistance. His statue in Rjukan is only one of many memorials to the Resistance in that town, home of the hydro plant damaged in an Allied/Norwegian joint operation to cripple the German heavy water effort.
